The Glenairy Residence is a 4 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom home located on a steeply sloped lot. To mitigate the steepness of the existing driveway, the home carves into the ground and utilizes large, tapering retaining walls to stitch the architecture into the site.
A modular, “living”, retaining wall captures additional usable area at the back of the lot while also softening the harshness of this edge with plants. The owner wing of the second floor cantilevers over this space, floating just above the modular wall. An outdoor kitchen and dining area utilizes the cover created by this cantilever.
