Berkshire Residence.
The Berkshire Residence is a three level single-family dwelling comprised of 6,150 square feet of enclosed space, located in one of Atlanta’s first suburban communities. The owner’s desire to create expansive and interconnected interior spaces that extend fluidly into the exterior environment was the primary generator of the spatial diagram. The home was envisioned as a system of fluid, shaded spaces situated under a floating roof plane that connects three primary building volumes which wrap around a central courtyard and pool. The vertical surfaces of the building volumes are defined by large sliding glass doors that provide open access to the courtyard and back yard on both levels, reinforcing the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
The exterior is all about privacy, with an elevated pool area and outdoor kitchen, shielded from view of neighboring structures. The home wraps this courtyard space, allowing views into and out of the main public spaces of the house. This luxurious exterior space includes a hot tub, fire pit and water element, in addition to an intimate pool area.
